BRCC Baseball Players Hunter Decell and Nicholas Jones were selected to the NJCAA Region 23, Division I All Conference Team. The team was selected in a vote by Miss/Lou League Coaches prior to the Conference Tournament held at Meridian CC. Decell was the leading hitter for BRCC and was named to the team as an infielder. Jones, selected as an outfielder, batted in the 3-hole and played right field for the Bears.


Tuesday, April 20, 2010: BRCC split a doubleheader with Southwest Mississippi CC in games played in Summit, MS.

Nick Jones and Anthony Dilligard each hit home runs and accounted for 9 RBI's to lead the way for the Bears in a 11-9 second game victory.

Sunday, February 14, 2010 (Game 2 of 2) - Baton Rouge 8, Bishop State 2: Freshman Kolby Little pitched five strong innings allowing Bishop State one earned run and four hits to lead Baton Rouge to its third win of the 2010 season. Little struck out four hitters, allowed one base on balls and gave up one earned run in his second outing of the young season. Anthony Dilligard hit a two run home run in the bottom of the first inning to give Baton Rouge a 2-1 lead. After Little retired all three Bishop batters in the top half of the second inning, Baton Rouge scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-1 lead. Hunter Decell led off with a single up the middle and A. C. Lowrance doubled to left center field putting runners on second and third base. Brennen Plaisance hit a grounder to first base driving in Decell and Lowrance scored on a fielding error off of the bat of BRCC second baseman Luke Guillot. Running on the pitch, Guillot was able to advance to second base when Joshua Perez grounded out to third base. Bear centerfielder Andrew Forbes drove in Guillot with a single to give Baton Rouge a 5-1 lead. Baton Rouge picked up its sixth run in the bottom half of the fourth inning. With one out Joshua Perez singled to right field and then stole second base. Perez scored when Anthony Dilligard hit a ball to the left of the Bishop shortstop which was misplayed allowing Perez to score from second base and giving BRCC a 6-2 lead. Baton Rouge scored its final runs in the bottom of the fifth inning when patient Bear hitters accepted five walks issued by Bishop State pitchers. A. C. Lowrance drew a base on balls to lead off the inning. After Bishop recorderd the first out of the inning on a strikeout, Luke Guillot and Joshua Perez walked to load the bases. Blake LeBlanc and Andrew Forbes drew the fourth and fifth walks to drive in Lowrance and Guillot with the final Bear runs making the score 8-2. Joseph Morales pitched the top half of the final inning, retiring all three hitters he faced, to conserve the win and improve the Bear season record to 3-4.

Sunday, February 14, 2010 (Game 1) - Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) 8, Bishop State 6: Devin Evans, a sophmore lefthander, pitching in relief of starting pitcher Joshua Craft and middle relief pitcher Matt Myers retired all six batters he faced to collect the win and improve the BRCC season record to 2-4. After allowing single runs in the first three innings to the visitors, Baton Rouge scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game. Bear leftfielder Jacob Stockinger led off the inning with a double and advanced to third base on a ground ball out hit to second base by Joshua Perez. Stockinger scored when Bear shortstop Josh Crowdus singled to centerfield. Crowdus stole second base and Andrew Forbes walked to put Bear runners on first and second base with one out. Crowdus and Forbes executed a double steal and Crowdus scored on a throwing error. Hunter Decell singled driving in Forbes with the third run of the inning and tieing the score at 3-3.The Bears took a one run lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Blake LeBlanc gained first base on a fielders choice and then stole second base to get into scoring position with one out. Jacob Stockinger singled to drive in LeBlanc giving Baton Rouge its first lead of the game. The Wildcats roared back to scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 6-4 lead. Baton Rouge reclaimed the lead by scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. With one out, Reece Wallace reached first base on a fielding error by the Bishop State third baseman. Blake Leblanc singled to right field and Jacob Stockinger drew a base on balls to load the bases for the Bears. Second baseman Joshua Perez blasted a double driving in pinch runner Jordan Trosclair and Leblanc to tie the score at 6-6. Baton Rouge took the lead when Stockinger scored on a passed ball and took a two run lead when Andrew Forbes hit a single driving in Perez with the fourth run of the inning and giving Baton Rouge a 8-6 lead. Evans, in his second inning of relief, shut down the visiting Bishop State team in the top half of the seventh inning to preserve the victory and give the Bears a two game winning streak. Baton Rouge beat Bossier City 3-2 last weekend for its first victory of the season.
